1.4 A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMPANY
Nestlé’s story began in 1867 in Switzerland. Henry Nestlé, a chemist, who lived in Vevey got interested in infant feeding. He saved a two week old baby’s life who rejected his mother’s milk, by a milk based product. This new product soon became well known all over the world with the name of ‘Farine Lactee Nestlé’ which means ‘Nestlé Milky Flour’.

Nestlé includes nearly all aspects of human food. Nescafe, Nestea, Maggi, Buitoni, Carnation, Libby’s, Perrier, Friskies, Kitkat, Crunch, Nuts, Lion are the examples for the well-known products of Nestlé all over the world. Nestlé has broken a record with Kitkat as being sold 427 bars per second. And it entered to Guiness Records Book.

Nestlé is coordinated by three companies settled in Vevey, Switzerland. The first one, Nestlé S.A. holds the financial shares in the allied companies, the second one, Nestec S.A. is active in research and technological development and technical assistance, the last one is Nestlé World Trade Corporation, which deals with import and export of merchandise worldwide
