1. Current Situation of Olive and Olive Oil Sector in Turkey
Turkey is an important olive and olive oil producer country of world which country has 5th position in olive growing area and olive production. Table olive production has occupied 30 % of total Turkish olive production and rest of the total production uses for olive oil (Graph 1). Turkey is a leader country, in both production and consumption of black table olive.
Turkish Olive situation has changed positively via new regulations and legislations of Turkish agricultural policies on olive, since 2000. One part of the new regulation is very important for developing of the Turkish olive structure which olive growers are the supported and obligated of the new olive plantation with certificated young plant delivered by Turkish Government. Olive growing areas, big plot olive orchard, olive productions and Turkish olives enterprises are increased then new regulations and legislations of olive. Certificated young olive plant supports are started since 2004. Olive tree numbers are moved up to 20% of Turkey (Graph 2). New and modern olive orchards are changeover of the new period rapidly.
